MURMUR / COMPANY

Personal autonomy infrastructure for an ambient-sensing world.

MURMUR develops technical clothing and serviceable personal systems designed around wearer control. The objective is not to make ordinary clothing more surveillant. It is to make technology more legible, removable, repairable and accountable to the person wearing it.

What we are building

Our first programme is SYSTEM 001: one architectural garment system integrating shell, removable carrier, protected routing, local control, serviceable observer modules and direct wearer interfaces.

Principles

  • Wearer control: technology should be understandable and directly controllable by the person carrying it.
  • Serviceability: hardware should be removable and replaceable without destroying the garment.
  • Restraint: sensing and wireless functions should exist for a defined purpose, not because another sensor can be added.
  • Evidence: design claims are separated from measured prototype results.
  • Long-life architecture: the garment and carrier should be able to outlive individual electronics revisions.

We do not treat speculative sensor readings as proof of identity, intent or threat. Generated imagery is used to communicate design intent; physical claims require physical testing.
